As I was growing up in an Air Force family, there was always music playing in our house. My mother would be singing to the radio while my Dad would be whistling a Chet-Baker-trumpet-worthy tune. Music eased the difficulty of moving around so much , and singing with my 3 other sisters just captured my heart.
After achieving a Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree in 1975 from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, I moved to Dallas and performed in many jazz, theater venues, and did many commercial jingles. In 1988, I moved to New York City and performed in many venues there while working with the most amazing musicians in the world.
In 1998, I met the love of my life and moved to Pittsburgh. I immediately started exploring the culture of the area and started discovering the rich music legacy of Pittsburgh and making the steel city my new home. I reached out to local musicians and was warmly welcomed into the music community. I was invited to start performing in town with the best jazz musicians in the city. In 2013, I was thrilled to complete my first CD, “Until…” which is a beautiful compilation of songs that light my heart. It is available for purchase here.
Then, I had the opportunity to experience the unique and fabulous culture of New Orleans and the surrounding Louisiana areas when my husband accepted a job in Baton Rouge. But Pittsburgh always seemed to lure me back, which we did after three years in Louisiana, and I couldn’t wait to get back into the swing of performing with my musician friends and the Pittsburgh music community. Today, I continue to balance my love of singing and women’s contemporary fine-art photography. You can see my work by clicking here.
I have been a member of Soka Gakkai International-USA (www.sgi-usa.org), a globally recognized Buddhist organization that promotes peace, culture, and education since 1983. I live in the Pittsburgh/Beaver area with my very funny husband, and two sweet cats.
